It has been a fantastic year so far in my new studio here in Day Creek. Here are two of the larger series from the first half of 2019. The Marblemount Eagle series was a direct response to a visit to see them this winter. The color of the sky that morning with the misting rain and leafless trees were so memorable, I had to begin recording it on canvas for myself in the studio later that day. There are 4 paintings in the series plus an additional artist's proof of concept that is not shown. It's fun to compare the peaceful contrast of these giant birds of prey to the funky colors and borderline unbearable personalities of the characters in the Roosterdoo series. In real life, these roosters are done up and sent up and obnoxiously engaging, and had to be painted as large as they are to express their personalities.
If you want to see the Roosterdoos in person, they will be in Seattle through the first week of September on the corner of Boren and Harrison, and can be seen 24 hours a day as a part of the Shunpike Seattle Storefronts public art program. See my News Page for an image and more details.
